Job Description

Thank you so much for your interest in working with Silver Bay Seafoods for the 2026 season as an experienced Seafood Processor. For the 2026 seafood processing summer season, Silver Bay Seafoods is only hiring employees who have previous Alaska seafood processing experience.

Silver Bay Seafoods is currently seeking dedicated and experienced Seafood Processors for the upcoming 2026 season. We are specifically looking for individuals with a proven track record in the industry to join our team across various Alaska facilities. Established in 2007 as a single salmon processing facility in Sitka, Alaska, Silver Bay Seafoods has evolved into a premier, vertically integrated processor. Today, the company stands as one of Alaskas largest seafood processors, managing a strategic network of 22 facilities, including 16 processing and 6 support sites.

Silver Bay processes multiple species of seafood.

Primary Duties

Processors can be assigned to various positions within the production department including, but not limited to, butchering, sorting, filleting, and case-up. Processors are also required to participate in plant clean-up and other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

The Responsibilities Of The Position Include The Following

Process multiple species of Alaskan seafood.

Work on hand butcher line; use of hands/hand tools to perform routine cutting and trimming.

Wash, size, grade seafood, load processed seafood onto freezer baskets/into cartons for shipping and other related Seafood Processor II activities as per SOC/OES 51-3022 (onetonline.org).

Position Details

Duration: Temporary, full-time seasonal positions.

Wage: $17.91/hr to $19.11/hr (depending on experience), with overtime rates up to $28.67/hr.

Locations: Primary reporting in Sitka, AK, with work distributed across various facilities, including Craig, Cordova, Dillingham, False Pass, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Naknek, Petersburg, Seward, Valdez, and Wood River.

Schedule/Expected Schedule

Monday-Sunday 6:00 AM-12:00 AM. Offering 35 (plus) hours per week; not including applicable lunch and/or breaks.

Shifts may vary, and significant overtime may be required depending on the volume of fish processed and the production schedule. Work hours are determined by production needs and are not guaranteed on a daily, weekly, or scheduled basis.

Shift schedules may rotate to accommodate our 24/7 operations. Shift times may vary and could include: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Scheduled days/hours includes weekends; possible holiday work.

Start/end times, offered hours and/or overtime could vary as they maybe dependent upon other factors such as project/schedule/service needs, weather, and commute time between worksites (if applicable).

Requirements

Mandatory Requirement: 3 Months Experience

We are requiring Experienced Seafood Processors.

To be considered, you must have at least 3 months of verifiable work experience with various species of Alaskan seafood.

Applicants must also have 3 months of direct seafood processing experience.

Requirements

Must be 18 due to state labor laws.

Must show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.

Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone.

Perform physical activities: such as lift balance, walk, stoop, handle, position, move, lift, push, pull, carry objects up to 50lbs.

Must have 3-months verifiable work experience with various species of Alaskan seafood and seafood processing experience.

No minimum education requirement.

All applicants must be able, willing, and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment.

Background check post hire at employer's expense. Subject to post-hire and ost-injury or accident drug testing, paid for by the employer.

Delivery and availability of seafood product from fisherman may result in possible downtimes due to weather conditions. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and extended shifts and schedules including 7-day work week as required.

Benefits

Inbound and Outbound Transportation (Initial Arrival and Contract Completion/Subsequent Departure):

The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at the rate required at the time of travel (currently $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts).

Transportation, including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging, to the place of employment along with subsistence will be provided for cost from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment.

Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer.

Tools, Equipment and Supplies: All work will be done with employer provided tools, supplies and equipment without charge or deposit.

Miscellaneous

Shared furnished housing (room and board) is provided to employees at a daily rate of $15.00, if housing is utilized by worker, applicable daily rate is to be deducted from the workers paycheck. Room and board includes shared housing, transportation from employer-provided housing to the worksite (when necessary), and three (3) meals per day. This offer applies to all employees residing on company property who work over 8 hours per day. If an employee works less than 8 hours per day, no room and board deductions will be taken. Additionally, employees in the highest tier with 4,001 hours of industry experience as a Seafood Processor are also exempt from room and board deductions. Upon successful completion of the contract, employees will be eligible to be reimbursed for half (1/2) of any/all paid room and board deductions, which will be reimbursed in the workers final paycheck. To successfully complete the contract, employees must be available to work at all company production facilities in the Alaska nonmetropolitan area for the entire duration specified. Any worker who voluntarily abandons employment is not entitled to payment for outbound transportation.
