Job Overview
The Director of Operations is a critical element of the leadership team essential for overseeing all internal/external manufacturing operations and the departments within (Production, Maintenance, and Logistics).
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership
- Process owner of strategic management process.
- Definition and implementation of corporate responsibility policies, including anti-bribery policy, employee code of conduct and ethics escalation policy at a minimum.
- Review of product realization and support processes and improvement of their effectiveness and efficiency.
- Identification of process responsible and competent process owners.
- Assign personnel with responsibility and authority to ensure customer requirements are met.
Production
- Formulation and implementation of production strategy in the scope of business goals as well as of the market and production strategy.
- Assurance of planning and implementation of efficient production concepts on the base of defined and validated processes and procedures.
- Assurance of more efficient and flexible production structures and their continual accommodation.
- Assurance of the cost – effective production in time, in the scope of customer need and in the defined quality.
- Assurance of the cost - effective samples production in time.
- Assurance of the work safety and fire protection in the scope of official regulations.
- Assurance of the comprehensive preventive environment protection in all the activities of doing business.
Maintenance
- Assurance of continual planning and the further development of localities, locality structure, plant facilities and production facilities in the scope of enterprise planning and product strategy.
- Assurance of the efficient maintenance and care for enterprise facilities and production facilities from the viewpoint of the preventive maintenance based on the condition.
- Assurance of a high plant availability, operation safety as well as product quality.
Logistics
- Optimize the material flow, material handling and value-added use of floor space.
- Execution or raw material receipt, internal transport and warehousing, preparation of goods for shipment and loading of goods.
- Assurance of a proper environment for storage, internal transport, loading and unloading.
- Execution of yearly inventory counting.
- Continuous improvement of quality of logistics processes.
- Establishment of IT based loading processes.
- Establishment and execution of cost reduction plan.
- Implementation of a make or buy policy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Operations related field. MS/MBA, ISM, APICs & major ERP preferred.
- 10 years of progressive leadership roles within Manufacturing and Product Supply in a Chemical/Plastics/Automotive/FMCG/Packaging or Electronics industry.
- Track record of Strategy Setting & Deployment, Change Management, & Large-Scale Time-Compressed Growth Projects.
- Technical Aptitude - Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP (JDE Oracle ideal) and other relevant strategic software and analytics platforms.
- Experience in handling issues on an international basis: understanding of the North American and international landscape.
- Working Under Pressure - Ability to deliver against set objectives while operating on some occasions in stressful situations.
