POSITION TITLE: Science Teacher (Grades 6-8)
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of
Education
REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Principals
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs
School Board policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Work collaboratively with content team (Professional Learning Community) and
grade level interdisciplinary team.
2. Implement a variety of effective, research-based instructional strategies consistently
to engage learners with the essential learning standards.
3. Design instructional plans with attention to individual student abilities and interests.
4. Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and
summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested.
5. Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners,
reteaching when needed and extending learning for others.
6. Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between
students and teachers, as well as student-to-student, while using effective
procedures to support all learners.
7. Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Special
Education, Gifted and Talented, counseling, health services, etc.).
8. Effectively implement district initiatives.
9. Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures
and resources.
10. Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and professional behavior expectations.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials, and facilities.
4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy
and administrative regulation.
5. Serve on committees as assigned.
6. Remain current on instructional practices in education.
