Position Title: Assistant Band Director/Director of Percussion – Siloam Springs High School
Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal/Director of Bands
Terms of Employment: 205 days with benefits according to Siloam Springs School

Qualifications:
- Must hold (or be in the process of obtaining) proper Arkansas teacher certification
- Strong in planning and organization
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbally
- Skilled in technology (G-Suite tools, music notation software, Pyware, etc.)
- Preferred skills in audio and visual media creation/design
- Skills necessary to develop high achieving, well-rounded percussionists
- Knowledgeable of contemporary marching band techniques
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with Director of Bands to manage all aspects of percussion studies within the Siloam Springs Band Program
- Collaborate with the Director of Bands to establish curriculum and philosophy that ensures the success and encouragement of all students in the band program
- Teach separate percussion classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
- Ability to teach various instruments as assigned by the Director of Bands
- Direct all aspects of concert and marching percussion activities including Fall marching band, all-region and all state auditions, concert percussion ensembles.
- Assist with all aspects of Intermediate, Middle, and High School Bands
- Attend all performances, events, and rehearsals as assigned by the district Director of Bands
- Conduct after-school sectionals and individual lessons as needed
- Collaborate with other band directors/teachers in professional learning communities
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Create positive educational climate for students
- Establish classroom behavior expectations and procedures
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Effectively implement district initiatives
- Implement services as provided by the district (ESL, Special Education, G/T, etc)
- Participate in curriculum review and design
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
- Responsible for maintenance of individual student accounts in Charms
