About the Role
Silkroad Tranz Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to oversee and manage our safety and compliance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Maintain and audit Driver Qualification Files (DQFs), including MVRs, medical certificates, and annual driver reviews.
- Coordinate DOT drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up) and manage FMCSA Clearinghouse queries.
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and driver safety events using Samsara telematics.
- Conduct driver coaching and safety training to address unsafe behaviors and promote a strong safety culture.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, maintain the DOT accident register, and manage insurance and cargo claims.
- Track CSA scores and safety KPIs, preparing reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist with DOT audits and compliance reviews, ensuring all safety records are accurate and up to date.
- Work directly with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to establish andmanage accident, liability, and cargo claims, including submitting documentation, tracking claim status, and facilitating communication between drivers, adjusters, and management.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in fleet safety, transportation compliance, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Experience maintaining Driver Qualification Files (DQFs).
- Familiarity with DOT drug and alcohol testing programs and working with a C/TPA.
- Experience handling insurance and accident claims within the transportation industry.
- Experience with Samsara or similar telematics/ELD platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information.
