Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Family Law Paralegal role based in Mountain View, CA. The Family Law Paralegal will support attorneys in all phases of family law cases, including client intake, case file management, and ongoing communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. Daily responsibilities include drafting and formatting pleadings, declarations, discovery requests and responses, financial disclosures, and other court documents, as well as preparing trial and hearing binders. The role also involves conducting factual and legal research, organizing and reviewing documents and evidence, managing deadlines and court calendars, and filing documents with the appropriate courts (both electronically and in person). The paralegal will collaborate closely with attorneys and staff to ensure timely, accurate work product and high-quality client service.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in family law and general legal concepts, with prior experience in a family law or civil litigation practice preferred.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation, including pleadings, discovery, declarations, and financial disclosures for family law matters.
- Excellent Communication skills, including clear written correspondence, professional client interaction, and effective coordination with courts and opposing counsel.
- Solid Research skills to gather case facts, locate relevant statutes and rules, and support attorney case strategy.
- Attention to detail in Document Review, including checking accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court rules and local procedures.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple deadlines, maintain orderly digital and physical files, and track court dates and tasks.
- Proficiency with standard office software, law practice management tools, and electronic court filing systems (experience with CLIO is a plus).
- Paralegal certificate from an accredited program and/or equivalent on-the-job experience; bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain client confidentiality and work collaboratively in a small firm environment.
- Ability to work on-site in Mountain View, CA, with occasional overtime based on client needs
