Silicon Valley Christian Assembly (SVCA), is a multi-generational, family-oriented church that has rich and active ministries within its local community and globally. SVCA conducts distinct worship services and ministries in English and Mandarin, and is known for its steadfast commitment to God’s Word and solid Biblical teaching. The Pastor of the English Ministry will provide oversight and leadership to the English-speaking congregation at SVCA. SVCA is located in the heart of Silicon Valley where raising a church is both a great commission and an opportunity. The pastor will need to create a renewed and innovative way to draw and equip families and individuals on how to grow spiritually and remain Christ-centered. They will also need to be biblically relational and passionate to reach the unchurched and get them connected to the church family. SVCA highly exhorts Christ and His Church, therefore exemplifying a bodily life and unity is an important trait to this pastoral position. This role will equip and oversee the volunteers that serve in EM (English Ministry), and co-minister with Elders, Deacons, and other pastoral staff of SVCA.

Your responsibilities:

Shepherding

  • To shepherd the English Ministry congregation and provide pastoral care, in line with SVCA's overall direction. The English Ministry comprises the following: family ministry, young adults/singles ministry, and college ministry.
  • To demonstrate care for the congregation's spiritual well-being through various ways, including but not limited to engaging in-depth conversations or visitations to individual members as the needs arise.
  • To exemplify the characters set forth, in heart and spirit, of the good shepherd - “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)

Building Up Leaders and Teams

  • A healthy understanding of biblical authority and proactively demonstrates servanthood leadership.
  • To disciple ministry leaders, in addition to identifying, developing and establishing co-workers and teams within the English ministry to meet the growing needs of the ministry.
  • To cultivate and synergize the ministry teams in a cohesive vision and purpose through services.
  • To lead and work with EM leaders on annual service planning, budgeting, and plan execution.
  • To oversee and support all English ministry teams, including but not limited to small group fellowship, outreach, caring, retreats, special meetings, mission trips, A/V, website, etc.

Growth

  • Working with Senior Pastor and English Ministry leaders to establish direction and strategies for growth, in line with SVCA’s overall direction, and to develop goals and objectives for the ministry areas in line with the strategic plan.
  • Proactively and collaboratively look for ways to improve Sunday service ministry execution with the various ministry teams.
  • Foster a prayer-centric ministry and grow the congregational participation in regular weekly prayer meetings.
  • Equip the congregation in fulfilling the great commission and promote regular outreach at a personal and congregational level.

Administration

  • To maintain up-to-date English Ministry membership, aliases, and leadership data in the church database.
  • To lead or participate in church-wide event coordination.

Qualifications

Education and Ministry Experience

  • Strongly prefer a graduate from an accredited seminary with M.Divinity or equivalent
  • Must have pastoral experience for five or more years after graduation, with references
  • Experience in cross-cultural ministry or Asian-American ministry is preferred

Relationship with God

  • Excellent and growing relationship and daily walk with God
  • Daily devotions and consistent prayer life.
  • A clear calling from God to serve as a Pastor.
  • Demonstrated obedience to the teaching of the Anointing (1 John 2:27)

Demonstrated Character

  • A strong marriage with a spouse who shares God’s call to shepherd together and who wholeheartedly supports you in this undertaking
  • Caring heart for others and approachable by others including church members and visitors
  • A motivating team-builder and a dynamic leader
  • Adaptable and resilient when confronted with barriers and setbacks
  • Open and authentic communication, quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger
  • Excellent team player and builder with ability to motivate, identify, and train individuals and teams
  • Exemplify servanthood leadership - leading by example

Passion and Competence

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver spiritual and practical sermons in a powerful and effective way to relay biblical truth in practical life applications
  • Demonstrated ability to grow church ministries in size, depth, and impact in past ministry roles
  • Demonstrated willingness and possession of skill sets to build up leaders and ministry teams
  • Demonstrated heart and passion to serve a diverse community (cultural/generational)
  • Proven organizational leadership and administration skills

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
