What are the responsibilities and job description for the Semiconductor EDA Solutions Engineer position at Silicon Integration Initiative, Inc.?
The Silicon Integration Initiative Inc. (Si2) is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit, membership organization funded by about 70 member companies. Si2’s purpose is to “provide collaborative technology and services which enable higher levels of semiconductor design integration leading to industry-accepted standards.” Si2 makes any such standards, technology, and services available to all who are interested at a fair and reasonable cost. Si2’s experienced staff work closely with engineering leaders from companies representing integrated circuit (IC) design, electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor manufacturing to jointly improve interoperability across that ecosystem by co-developing standards, reference databases, application programming interfaces (APIs), standard SPICE device models, LLM benchmarking capabilities, power modeling, and other solutions for both suppliers and users.
Si2 is looking to hire a person with broad experience with integrated circuit design tools, methods, flows, and the use of AI in these areas. The person should also have strong people skills to facilitate collaboration between Si2 members from industry and academia. The person may also need to oversee processes that require coordination with other Si2 employees.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Facilitate special interest groups and open standards working groups (logistics, agenda and minutes).
- Provide technical assistance and insights when needed to keep the above moving forward.
- Provide technical assistance and track releases of the Compact Model Coalition (CMC) models.
- Validate production releases of standard compact models using circuit simulation tools.
- Use the Omni Digital Causeway collaboration platform to administer member information for above.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Investigate emerging technologies that may be relevant to Si2’s mission and educate management.
- Attend relevant IEEE or OCP working group meetings on behalf of Si2.
As a facilitator, the candidate must get a sense of satisfaction from helping people from different companies and geographies solve problems. The candidate must be disciplined to ensure member enquiries are answered promptly, the collaboration platform is always up-to-date, and members have their issues resolved quickly.
At least four years’ experience with integrated design flows, semiconductor technology development, EDA tools, or related fields is required. The candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency using circuit simulation tools, collaboration platforms, and AI for integrated circuit design problems is highly beneficial. Otherwise, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to quickly ramp up in these areas. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to expand their current knowledge and engage in new domains as they arise.
