What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Warehouse position at Silgan Plastics and Careers?
- Operate a Forklift in a safe and responsible manner
- Read and understand all operational and safety rules and guidelines provided during forklift license training.
- Operate both fork and clamp attachments
- Transport finished goods and raw materials as directed
- Load and unload semi-trailers and complete the necessary paperwork and communications as directed
- Understand and use all scanning equipment required to perform job
- Maintain and update status of inventory information through scans, written or logged as necessary
- Lift and carry containers as needed
- Lift and carry packaging such as pallets, shrink-wrap etc. as needed.
- Communicate in a professional manner with supervisor, coordinators & co-workers as necessary.
- Assist other departments as needed
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
- Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
- Effectively use verbal and written communications.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Perform sweeping cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):
- Obtain or be able to obtain a forklift driver’s license
- Possess proficient mathematic and grammar skills
- Able to lift and load containers of boxes as required up to 50lbs
- Good verbal and organizational skills
- This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
