Position Summary
The Associate Vice President of Operations will serve as the senior operational leader for the New York and Connecticut markets. This individual will be responsible for the overall performance, leadership development, operational consistency, and growth of multiple HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical businesses throughout the region.
This is not a sit-behind-the-desk leadership role. The successful candidate will be highly visible within the business, spending significant time in the field supporting General Managers, coaching leaders, developing teams, and driving operational excellence.
The AVP will serve as both a strategic leader and hands-on operator, helping brands improve performance, develop talent, integrate acquisitions, and execute company initiatives while maintaining accountability for revenue, profitability, and EBITDA performance.
What You'll Do: Operational Leadership
- Lead and support General Managers across multiple locations throughout New York and Connecticut.
- Establish accountability and operational consistency across all brands.
- Drive execution through structured operating cadences including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess performance, coach leaders, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure company initiatives, systems, and processes are effectively implemented across the market.
- Create alignment between company strategy and local execution.
Financial Leadership
- Own market-level financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, EBITDA, labor efficiency, and operational metrics.
- Review P&Ls and financial performance regularly with branch leadership teams.
- Partner with finance and regional leadership to identify risks and opportunities.
- Coach General Managers on budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and financial decision-making.
- Drive accountability around KPI performance and operational efficiency.
Leadership Development
- Coach, mentor, and develop General Managers and department leaders.
- Build leadership bench strength and succession plans across the market.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development planning sessions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Help leaders develop the skills necessary to successfully run and grow their businesses.
Acquisitions & Integrations
- Support the successful integration of newly acquired companies.
- Partner with leadership teams to ensure smooth operational transitions.
- Preserve local culture while implementing company standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for operational synergies and process improvements.
- Assist with future acquisition readiness and growth initiatives.
What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience within residential HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Home Services.
- Proven experience leading multiple locations, business units, or brands.
- Strong P&L ownership and financial management experience.
- Demonstrated success coaching and developing General Managers and senior leaders.
- Experience driving operational improvements and business growth.
- Strong understanding of KPIs, labor management, revenue growth, and EBITDA performance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout New York and Connecticut.
