Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and perform insurance verification to ensure accurate billing and claims processing
- Schedule appointments efficiently using clinic management software such as Eclinicalworks
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries and routing calls appropriately
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding for medical billing purposes
- Schedule patient appointments. Send imaging orders via EHR. Prepare patients for the next clinic day. Confirm appointments. Verify appointments. Obtain referrals from PCP.
- Office supplies inventory.
- Support clinical staff by preparing exam rooms, assisting with basic procedures, and maintaining medical records in accordance with health information management standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment; clinic experience highly preferred
- 3-4 years medical assistant experience required
- 3-4 years medical receptionist experience required
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines for accurate documentation and billing
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks experience with health information management is a plus
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
