We now have offices in Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, Texas, and our service capabilities include all aspects of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering design; industrial control system programming; and IT infrastructure design, networking, and consulting services. Our work primarily serves municipal water/wastewater utilities, state and local jails, detention/corrections facilities, as well as private clients.
OVERVIEW
The South Texas Regional Manager will collaborate with our team to lead the designs of Electrical, and/or Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout the region. The primary focus of this role will be on design using AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, Bluebeam, and Microsoft software tools to perform engineering work. This position will leverage their knowledge of basic engineering principles regarding topics such as electrical one-line diagrams, power feeds, conduit sizing, lighting, system architecture designs, communication equipment for radio, fiber, and copper network-related systems, security best practices, and water/wastewater process control narratives, all with the objective of ensuring efficient and reliable operation for our clients’ systems.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical lead or support role in a team of engineers and control system programmers, offering guidance, direction, and support to ensure the successful completion of design solutions for clients.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on engineering designs, prepare reports, develop plans, write specifications, and provide cost estimates for diverse water and wastewater projects, including permitting and alternative analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, structural, instrumentation & controls, and software engineering, etc. to deliver well-designed construction documents.
- Take ownership of the electrical and/or instrumentation and controls engineering design process, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Experience preparing SCADA master plans as well as electrical, instrumentation and controls related design documents including one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, power studies, P&ID's, loop wiring diagrams, control system architecture diagrams, specifications and instrument lists.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in technologies, tools, and techniques, and integrate them into the department's operations where appropriate.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, vendors, and industry professionals to facilitate successful project delivery and to support business development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department, optimizing processes and workflows for increased efficiency and quality.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and safety standards in all electrical engineering activities.
- Actively engage in industry events and demonstrate a willingness to share expertise through conference presentations as a subject matter expert.
- Manage San Antonio office staff, providing coaching and mentorship to foster a collaborative, high-performing team.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- 7 years of experience in Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) design, preferably within the water/wastewater industry.
- 3 years of project management experience leading design projects, including the development of plans and specifications, bid and award support, and construction services.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering and instrumentation principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve departmental goals.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on innovative and practical solutions.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and tools, as well as experience with simulation and analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical and instrumentation engineering.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required or the ability to obtain Texas licensure through reciporcity within three months of hire.
