Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structured Cabling Installer to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Install and configure structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring for commercial and industrial environments
- Terminate cables accurately using hand tools and ensure proper connection to networking equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and telecommunication hardware
- Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and installation manuals to execute precise cable routing and system layouts
- Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to establish high-speed data connections with minimal signal loss
- Conduct network testing using telecommunications testing equipment, diagnostic tools, Ohmmeters, RF testers, and other specialized instruments to verify system integrity
- Troubleshoot equipment issues related to Ethernet networks, VoIP telephony systems like Avaya or similar platforms, and telecommunication systems to ensure optimal performance
- Maintain safety standards by properly handling power tools, hand tools, and electrical components while adhering to electrical codes such as AC/DC systems
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients about system status, project timelines, and post-installation support
Experience
- Proven experience in structured cabling installation within commercial or industrial settings
- Hands-on knowledge of telecommunications systems including LAN (Local Area Network), telephony (VoIP), CCTV security systems, and radio frequency (RF) testing
- Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques and fiber optic system installation procedures
- Ability to interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and network wiring layouts accurately
- Experience working with Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, Avaya telephony platforms, and computer networking fundamentals
- Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools such as Ohmmeters, network testers, cable testers, and telecommunications testing equipment
- Knowledge of low-voltage electrical wiring practices for telecommunications and data infrastructure projects
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach when interacting with clients during installations or service calls
