What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding AI Engineer position at Signalcore AI?
What we’re building
Signalcore is building the performance management layer for enterprise AI systems. As companies deploy AI across customer support, operations, and internal workflows, the bottleneck is no longer access to AI; it’s knowing what actually works. Today, decisions are made through demos, pilots, and vendor claims. There is no system of record for AI performance. We’re building the infrastructure to test, evaluate, and monitor AI systems in real workflows, so companies can make decisions based on outcomes, not promises.
Why this matters now
Every enterprise will soon run hundreds of AI systems and agents. That creates a new class of problems:
• There is no clear way to define or measure whether an AI system is actually “working” • Outputs are non-deterministic, context-dependent, and often lack ground truth
• Performance can degrade, drift, or fail silently over time
• Comparing systems is fundamentally hard across models, runs, and environment
We believe this becomes a new layer of infrastructure, similar to how observability became essential for software.
Team
Founders include the former CEO, CTO, and EVP Product of Trax Retail (scaled to multi-billion valuation, $350M raised). We’ve built and deployed AI systems across hundreds of global enterprises and have deep experience in enterprise software, data systems, and AI
Recently raised a pre-seed round from strong early-stage investors.
The role
We’re looking for a founding AI engineer to help build the core system. This is a true 0→1 role, working directly with the founders on both product and architecture.
You’d work on:
- Defining how enterprises make decisions about AI systems, turning messy, non-deterministic outputs into measurable, actionable signals
- Defining how AI systems are evaluated in real-world workflows; not just prompts, but end-to- end task performance
- Designing systems that generate reliable, comparable signals from non-deterministic AI behavior
- Building a unified way to interact with and test different AI systems across fragmented APIs and architectures
This is not a typical feature development role; it’s building a new kind of system from first principles.
Who this is for
We’re looking for builders with high agency. Strong candidates often:
- Build without detailed specs and figure things out quickly
- Make good decisions in ambiguous, undefined problem spaces
- Use AI tools heavily in their development workflow
- Have built real systems from scratch (side projects, startups, or internal tools)
- Experience with AI systems is helpful but not required.
- Why join
- Early team, high ownership
- Work directly with experienced founders
- Help define a new category of enterprise AI infrastructure
- Founding role with meaningful equity
