Heavy Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Signal Metal Industries is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic with strong mechanical and electrical experience in a heavy industrial environment.

This hands-on role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient operations with minimal downtime.

• Install, maintain, and repair production machines, welding machines, CNC equipment, overhead cranes, and facility systems
• Perform emergency repairs during production and scheduled maintenance during downtime
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Diagnose problems, replace or rebuild faulty components, and make necessary adjustments
• Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, motor controls, control panels, and VFDs
• Troubleshoot PLCs, machine controls, relays, sensors, and 3-phase power systems
• Read and follow mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and service manuals
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
• Maintain high-voltage electrical systems and industrial electrical distribution equipment
• Use hand and power tools, material handling equipment, and lifts safely to perform maintenance tasks
• Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, and general facility upkeep as needed
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all company safety standards
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and preventive maintenance records
• Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures and recommend improvements
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• 5 years of heavy industrial maintenance experience, including mechanical and electrical work
• Experience with industrial controls, machine wiring, motor starters, and PLC troubleshooting preferred
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Must provide own general tools and toolbox (list provided)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, and work at heights or in confined spaces
• Excellent attendance and team-oriented mindset
• Willingness to work overtime and in varying environmental conditions
• Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE
