Role Overview:
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for leading the full lifecycle execution of Signal Energy’s
most complex and strategically significant utility-scale solar EPC projects. The SPM operates with a high
level of independence and judgment, ensuring safe, timely, and financially disciplined delivery. In
addition to core project leadership responsibilities, the SPM plays a pivotal role in developing future
project leaders, elevating project management standards, and reinforcing the culture and operating
rhythms of Project Delivery. This role requires an experienced, forward-thinking project leader who can
navigate significant technical, commercial, and contractual challenges, strengthen relationships with
clients and partners, and model the behaviors expected across Signal’s project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advanced Project Leadership & Execution
o Lead full-lifecycle execution of large, complex EPC projects from NTP through final
acceptance.
o Oversee multiple project phases concurrently, ensuring alignment with design
standards, construction best practices, schedule commitments, and commercial
requirements.
o Provide strategic decision-making support to field teams and proactively resolve issues
to maintain project momentum.
o Support Preconstruction through estimating, constructability reviews, procurement
strategy, and subcontractor evaluation for major scopes.
2. Safety & Quality Leadership:
o Model exceptional safety behavior and ensure field teams uphold Signal’s safety
expectations without exception.
o Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a transparent, corrective-action
culture around safety and quality.
o Partner with Quality to ensure robust inspection processes, proactive issue resolution,
and adherence to specifications.
3. Financial Leadership & Project Controls:
o Manage project budgets at an advanced level, including forecasting, cost trending,
margin protection, and commercial strategy.
o Oversee contract administration and major commercial events, including claims,
notices, risk exposures, and change management.
o Provide executive-level reporting on financial performance, risks, and variance drivers.
4. Schedule Strategy & Performance:
o Lead strategic scheduling efforts, including development, monitoring, and mitigation
planning for complex, multi-phase scopes.
o Ensure rigorous analysis of critical path, productivity trends, and recovery planning.
o Collaborate with Scheduling, Construction, and subcontract partners to maintain
milestone alignment.
5. Client & Stakeholder Leadership:
o Serve as the primary strategic interface with clients, owner engineers, lenders, and key
stakeholders.
o Anticipate client needs, maintain alignment on expectations, and elevate Signal’s
reputation for professionalism and performance.
o Lead difficult conversations with poise and ensure transparent communication during
challenges or change events.
6. Team Leadership, Mentorship & Culture:
o Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, APMs, PEs, and Field Engineers to build a
strong succession pipeline.
o Reinforce Signal’s project delivery culture—accountability, proactive communication,
disciplined execution, and team cohesion.
o Provide structured coaching, regular performance feedback, and development planning
for project delivery personnel.
o Support hiring, onboarding, and capability-building initiatives across the PM discipline.
7. Strategic Risk Management:
o Identify, quantify, and strategically manage high-impact risks across technical,
commercial, schedule, subcontract, and safety domains.
o Lead major risk reviews with senior leadership and ensure clear mitigation strategies
and follow-through.
o Integrate lessons learned into future planning and mentor PMs on effective risk
leadership.
8. Reporting, Governance & Executive Communication:
o Provide consistent, accurate, and executive-ready reporting on project progress, issues,
financials, and milestone health.
o Lead internal and external project meetings with clarity, structure, and a focus on
accountability.
o Support Project Delivery governance processes and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Primary Skills/Experience/Abilities:
• Demonstrated leadership of large-scale EPC construction projects, preferably utility-scale solar
or renewable energy.
• Advanced knowledge of EPC execution, engineering workflows, procurement strategy, and
construction sequencing.
• Mastery of financial reporting, cost controls, and commercial management.
• Exceptional communication – verbal, written, and interpersonal – with strong client-facing
presence.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and mentor developing project talent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of ownership and initiative.
• Proficiency in project management software (P6, MS Project) and financial systems.
Preferred Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, renewable energy, or related field.
• Minimum 8-10 years of project management experience, with at least 3
years in a role leading complex or large-scale EPC projects.
Preferred Certificates/Licenses:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
