Human Resources Generalist

General Function: This is a generalist role that leans heavily towards employee service & administrative HR tasks. This person supports the Deputy HR Officer and the Chief Human Resources Officer in any of the functional areas of human resources, which may include recruitment, hiring, personnel records, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, etc.

 

Education and Experience:

  •     Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  •     Prior HR related experience required.

 Requirements

  •     Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  •     Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •     Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a commitment to confidentiality
  •     Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  •     Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams
  •     Knowledge of UKG Ready is ideal
  •     Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the onboarding process is properly completed: including ensuring required pre-employment paperwork is completed and UKG processes completed; helps new hires enroll in employee benefits.
  • Assists with the administration of benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents to payroll and ensures accurate record-keeping. Answering employee questions about benefits.
  • Trains new employees on the self-service for benefits, and other changes via the UKG portal and answers questions about its use.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Assists with background checks, references, and registry checks in accordance varying grant requirements, maintaining records in file.
  • Schedule meetings, training events and interviews as requested.
  • Ensures that personnel files are created and maintained to audit standards.
  • Assists with auditors’ requests for information.
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include educational updates, address changes, completed performance evaluations and other information.
  •  Assists with processing of terminations by completing separation notices and updating payroll.
  • Assists with ensuring performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner, reminding managers of due dates. Updates UKG with performance review dates and files reviews in the employee file.
  • Updates employee health forms & fingerprinting when they are required to be redone, sending reminders to staff and managers for completion.
  • Responds to verifications of employment as needed.
  • Assists with planning and coordination of various Staff events such as ordering food, secures space for event and requests equipment needed.
  • Works closely with the Payroll Department to go over outstanding payroll issues.
  •     Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  •     Acts as the first point of contact for responding to employee requests for Leave of Absence.
  •     May assist with the collection of other HR paperwork such as Worker’s Comp related forms and doctor’s notes, FMLA paperwork, doctor’s statements for disability claims, etc.
  •     Creates and maintains WC files, OSHA logs and reports.
  •     Completes annual audits of personnel files and I-9’s to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
  •     Makes photocopies; mails, scans, and emails documents; creates new hire packets and performs other administrative functions.
  •     Performs other HR related duties as assigned.
