Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Staff ASL Interpreter, located in the greater Nashville area. The Staff ASL Interpreter will facilitate communication between hearing individuals and those in the Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing communities. Daily tasks will include interpreting in a variety of settings, adhering to industry ethics, and ensuring effective, accurate, and culturally attuned communication. Additionally, the interpreter will collaborate with team members, participate in workshops, and contribute to community engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong ability to interpret between ASL and spoken English
• Familiarity with Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing cultures and sensitivity to their needs
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
• Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential is highly desirable
• Ability to handle a variety of interpreting settings, including medical, educational, and community-based environments
• Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning within the interpreting field
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of managing multiple assignments effectively
• Prior on-site interpreting experience is a plus
