Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Educational Interpreter with positions available at both the elementary and high school levels. The Educational Interpreter will deliver high-quality interpreting services in educational settings for D/deaf, DeafBlind, Hard-of-Hearing, and hearing students and staff. Responsibilities include facilitating effective communication between all participants in classrooms and related school activities, ensuring accessibility of spoken and signed content. The interpreter will collaborate with educators and staff to support inclusive education and may provide language and cultural guidance where necessary.
Both staff and contract positions are available, with placements in a variety of school districts and educational settings throughout Central Pennsylvania.
Qualifications
- EIPA 3.5 OR NIC Certified
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English for accurate and clear interpretation across educational contexts
- Understanding of educational settings and student needs, with the ability to adapt interpreting styles accordingly
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with students, teachers, and staff
- Commitment to professional growth, continuous learning, and adherence to ethical standards set forth by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- Previous experience in educational interpreting or a related field is highly desirable
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional team in a school environment
