SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic setting manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of the Physician. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
1. Assesses data regarding the patient's physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs based upon the patient's age and development, for patients of all ages.
2. Reports and documents all observed symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition.
3. Utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver patient care. Develops, implements, revises and evaluates a formal plan of care.
4. Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, families, and visitors.
5. Organizes and prioritizes daily assignments to provide optimal patient care.
6. Demonstrates competency annually in assigned areas of work.
7. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.
8. Complies with PMHC Code of Conduct.
9. Upholds certifications if required by specified clinics.
For those serving in Charge Capacity:
1. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
2. Coaches staff to develop and demonstrate appropriate problem solving behaviors and teaches methods to improve decision-making skills.
3. Identifies opportunities to improve performance and leads and/or participates in performance improvement teams.
4. Recognizes life threatening patient complications/situations and responds immediately by initiating and participating in emergency procedures.
5. Effectively utilizing the NOBL Rounding program, communicating recognition and concerns appropriately.
6. Provides input for monthly meeting agenda
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports directly to the Supervisor of Specialty Clinics.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
1. Bachelor's degree (BSN), Associate's degree (ADN) or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.
2. Current BLS/CPR certification.
3. If working in Oncology dept RN is required to uphold cho/biotherapy certification.
