We are seeking an experienced and motivated Staff Laser Process Engineer to join our team and play a key role in advancing laser materials processing technologies. In this role, you will work hands-on with cutting-edge optical systems designing experiments, analyzing data, and refining processes to support the development of next-generation industrial semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of innovative laser-based semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment from concept through deployment.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced laser materials processing setups and standard operating procedures.
- Perform hands-on experiments to investigate and characterize fundamental physical phenomena in novel optical and laser systems.
- Utilize data analysis and simulation tools to recommend and validate design improvements based on experimental outcomes.
- Analyze and correlate performance metrics with key design parameters to uncover root causes and optimization opportunities.
- Reconcile empirical findings with theoretical models using analytical methods and numerical simulations.
- Proactively identify and resolve complex, systemic technical challenges.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge and technical growth.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or Material Science.
- At least 8 years of experience in the development and experimental application of optical or laser devices and systems.
- Experience with semiconductor materials
- Proficient in MATLAB and Python for instrument automation, data acquisition, and statistical analysis.
- Expertise in aligning, characterizing, and testing lasers and complex optical systems.
- Skilled in analyzing and interpreting experimental data to drive process improvements and troubleshoot issues.
- Hands-on experience with free-space optics and precision optical alignment.
- Experience working with semiconductor materials and/or designing optical systems for high-precision applications.
- Familiarity with optical simulation tools, including ray tracing and beam propagation software (e.g., Zemax, LightTools, or similar).
- Working knowledge of fiber optic systems and integration.
