Job Description / Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to support plastic extrusion operations by performing preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and repair to ensure reliable production. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, improving machine utilization, and supporting efficient plant operations within a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Daily responsibilities include inspecting extrusion lines and plastics processing equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance, and completing necessary mechanical and electrical repairs on plant machinery. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, investigate abnormal wear or failures, and determine root causes in order to implement effective repair solutions.
  • The role also involves troubleshooting and maintaining PLC-controlled equipment, VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) motor systems, and industrial electrical components. Technicians will perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, control panels, sensors, and drives while ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
  • In addition, this position supports the maintenance and repair of pneumatic (nematics) systems, hydraulic systems, and hydraulic valves commonly used in plastics extrusion machinery. Responsibilities include maintaining pumps, motors, conveyors, cooling systems, and other production support equipment.
  • Technicians are responsible for completing maintenance tasks and repair adjustments in a timely manner to keep production running efficiently. Additional duties include ordering parts for maintenance activities, maintaining appropriate spare parts inventory levels, and documenting completed repair work.
  • Successful candidates will contribute to a positive work environment, follow all company work rules, and strictly adhere to safety standards while performing all maintenance and repair responsibilities within the manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; 5 years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience, preferably in plastics processing or extrusion environments.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining plastic extrusion equipment, plastics processing machinery, or similar manufacturing systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled systems and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) motor controls.
  • Strong ability to perform industrial electrical troubleshooting, including motors, control panels, sensors, and drives.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, hydraulic valves, pneumatic (nematic) systems, and mechanical components used in manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing motors, pumps, conveyors, and automated production equipment.
  • Must provide your own tools suitable for maintenance and repair work on manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment issues and determine root causes requiring repair.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with supervisors and team members.
  • Good organizational and planning skills to manage maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Must be able to read and write in English; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following all company policies related to maintenance procedures and equipment operation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
