Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Technician operates, troubleshoots, and supports automated and semi-automated production lines and NPI efforts. This position also supports standard production and works on production lines as needed.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support continual operation of automated and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Set up jobs, initialize automation lines, and perform assembly tasks.
  • Transact jobs and work with production leads and supervisors to meet production velocity goals.
  • Trouble shoot and perform failure/defect analysis, root cause analysis for assembly tooling and production machinery.
  • Debugging manufacturing tooling and automation equipment.
  • Support engineering efforts in Root Cause Analysis activities.
  • Prepare and update work instructions. Develop work instructions for NPI programs.
  • Prepare a technical detailed summary of daily progress and equipment issues that occurred.
  • Work as part of the assembly team daily as a line operator.
  • Support R&D activities and prototype builds.
  • Perform basic maintenance on machinery & specialized assembly tooling.
  • Supporting 3D printing work cells, programs, and inventory management.
  • Complete assembly assignments by understanding and following written and verbal instruction.
  • Ensure work area is in accordance with 5S program.
  • Perform assembly job per assembly production velocity demand.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision/oversight, staying focused on safety, quality, and output.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis techniques.
  • Highly skilled working within MS OFFICE, Excel, Word. (VB, MS ACCESS a plus)
  • Experience with manufacturing techniques, such as 5S, Kanban systems, FIFO processes, and other LEAN principles.
  • Proficient with general computer usage.
  • Highly skilled in writing and editing. Very strong communication skills required.
  • Small hand tools and machinery used in this position require manual dexterity and basic safety awareness.
  • Must be proficient with mathematics, with understanding of basic statistics.
  • Experience with photo editing a plus.
  • Experience with electronics and robotic cells required and PLC experience preferred.
  • Ability to send, receive and interpret information clearly, accurately, thoroughly, and effectively encompassing interpersonal, cross functional and peer group settings.
  • Must be able to provide Engineering a clear technical description of issues to narrow the scope of their support needed to resolve.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
  • Ability to be trained and certified on detailed assemblies, with a willingness to be cross-trained on many tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Technical Associate’s degree and 5-9 years of experience (Preferred), or combination of education and a minimum of 7 years experience is acceptable.

Working Conditions:
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks
  • Employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time monitoring the robots.
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment; fully gowned, with safety glasses, hair nets, and face coverings.
  • Skilled in manual dexterity and small mechanical part manipulation with precision accuracy.
  • May require vision and auditable tone discernment to monitor for safety and operational concerns while working around special equipment and robots.
