Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide residential support to adults with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will assist individuals with daily living activities, promote independence, and support meaningful participation in the community. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication administration
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment in accordance with agency, Ohio DODD, and safety standards
- Support individuals in developing independence, self-advocacy skills, and community involvement
- Plan and assist with leisure and community activities, such as shopping, recreational outings, and social events
- Uphold and protect the Bill of Rights for People with Developmental Disabilities
- Provide transportation to medical appointments, educational programs, and community activities while following all Ohio DODD and agency driving policies
- Schedule, attend, and assist during medical appointments as needed
- Administer medications and treatments in compliance with documented procedures and certifications
- Category 1 Medication Certification required; Category 2 and 3 certifications may be required based on assignment
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of daily activities, medical information, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA and Ohio DODD regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required (training provided)
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass background check and required screenings
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Must be able to assist with physical tasks related to personal care
