Our Claims department is currently seeking a Return-to-Work Consultant to join our team!


As a Return-to-Work Consultant, you will be responsible for coordinating recovery and work reintegration efforts while ensuring compliance with workers’ compensation regulations, employer policies, and best practice disability management principles. This position will partner with injured workers, employers, medical providers , and internal stakeholders to facilitate safe, timely , and sustainable return-to-work/stay-at-work outcomes.


We’ll be looking for YOU to:

  • Collaborate with employers, healthcare professionals and injured workers to coordinate timely return-to-work.
  • Assess injured workers’ skills, interests, goals, and abilities to identify suitable job opportunities and training programs consistent with medical restrictions, transferable skills, and vocational goals.
  • Develop individualized employment plans and assist injured workers with job-seeking skills, resume preparation, job applications, and interview skills.
  • Monitor injured worker progress, offer motivational support, and provide regular updates to employers, claims examiners, and nurse case managers.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to educate and promote return-to -work opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support to employers by evaluating workplace accommodations, transitional duty options, and return-to-work strategies that align with operational needs.
  • Document all contacts and outcomes related to case activity.
  • Ensure confidentiality and adherence to workers’ compensation laws, vocational rehabilitation standards, and ethical guidelines.


Your background should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, business, human services, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience in job development, employer relations, recruitment or vocational counseling.
  • Excellent understanding of disability management and return-to-work processes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, relationship management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient use of desktop applications, e.g., Microsoft Office products, to generate emails, forms/letters, reports, and presentations, as well as search and download information from the internet.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable source of transportation.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% locally and statewide to meet with injured workers, policyholders, and providers.


We’d love it if you also have:

  • Certification or credential in vocational rehab (e.g., CRC, CDMS, CVE-certified vocational evaluation).
  • Experience with workers’ compensation systems. Knowledge of insurance industry, claims adjusting and medical terminology is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
