Get to Know This Role
Responsible for a wide range of accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and audit preparation, with expanded ownership over key accounting areas and leadership of select close and reporting processes. This role serves as a lead accounting presence in Chico, operating with a high degree of autonomy while partnering closely with the Sr. Manager, Controller (remote). The Sr. Accountant will drive process improvements, strengthen documentation, and provide review and guidance to junior team members and cross-functional partners. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across ancillary business lines (restaurant, retail/gift shop, and self-distribution) with support towards the core manufacturing business. The role is expected to identify risks, improve processes, and elevate the overall quality and efficiency of the accounting function. Initially this role will operate within our current ERP landscape, and the manual processes in existence. This leads to the opportunity of playing an integral part in shaping, testing and implementation of the new ERP.

What You Will Do
- Serve as lead accountant for Chico-based operations, acting as the primary on-site accounting resource
- Own key components of the month-end close, including coordination of timelines, issue resolution, and variance analysis
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and workpapers prepared by junior staff or shared services (if applicable)
- Partner with Controller to identify accounting risks, staffing gaps, and process improvement opportunities
- Drive standardization and documentation of accounting processes, ensuring continuity and audit readiness
- Account for ancillary businesses, which include our restaurants, gift shops, and self-distribution, by recording sales, inventory usage, performing bank reconciliations, and cost of goods sold analysis
- Assist in developing reporting and KPIs to support decision-making for non-core business units
- Analyze processes and re-engineering with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment
- Pre ERP Go-Live - Participate in shaping the future ERP design and user-acceptance testing.
- Post-ERP Go-Live – Controllership of inventory, valuation and existence.
- Review information and trends to ensure that the output of the processes is achieving the desired results.
- Ad-hoc requests as needed.
Please Apply if You Have
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, or finance or any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved required
- 7 years Finance and accounting experience required
- Mastery of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problems solving skills
- Ability to collaborate closely with Financial Planning & Analysis team
- Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and translate that into strategic and tactical plans
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and cross-functional business partnerships
- Strong time management; Ability to manage multiple priorities at once
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Sound decision-making
- Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional internal parties, external parties and company management, which includes ability to lead meeting presentations at all levels of the organization.
- Strong initiative and follow through
- Strong organization, detail oriented and technical ability
- Proficiency with MS Office suite with expert level experience using Outlook & Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience documenting processes, driving process change and developing training documentation
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Ability to meet deadlines and get results
- Experience in Oracle Essbase preferred
- CPA preferred
