Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Evaluation
Conduct psychoeducational assessments to evaluate cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
Participate in eligibility determinations for special education services in accordance with IDEA and state guidelines.
Prepare and present clear, comprehensive evaluation reports.
Intervention & Counseling
Provide individual and group counseling for social‑emotional and behavioral needs.
Develop and implement evidence‑based academic and behavioral interventions.
Support crisis intervention, including risk assessments, safety planning, and post‑crisis care.
Consultation & Collaboration
Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to identify student needs and recommend strategies.
Participate in MTSS/RTI teams to assist with data‑driven problem solving.
Collaborate with community mental‑health providers when appropriate.
Behavior Support
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Train staff in positive behavior supports, classroom management, and intervention strategies.
Monitor behavioral data and adjust supports as needed.
Special Education Support
Participate as a key member of the IEP team.
Assist with goal development, progress monitoring, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
Support transition planning for students receiving services.
School‑Wide Prevention & Wellness
Promote safe, supportive learning environments through school‑wide SEL or mental‑health initiatives.
Provide professional development for staff on topics such as mental health, trauma‑informed practices, and behavior support.
Support school climate improvements and bullying‑prevention efforts.
Documentation & Professional Practice
Maintain accurate records, case notes, and evaluation documentation.
Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, including NASP Standards and FERPA/HIPAA requirements.
Stay current through professional development and training.
