QUALIFICATIONS
- An Associate’s Degree or 60 college credits or State/Local ParaPro Assessment test required
- Previous experience working with youth preferred
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Under the supervision of the classroom teacher and building Administrator, provide direct support to students with disabilities to assist with a wide range of IEP-related services so they may reach their highest potential within the academic setting.
- Assist student in classroom activities to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of IEP objectives, etc.
- Accompany and assist student throughout the school day as necessitated by the IEP and monitor behaviors for behavior plans.
- Work one-on-one and in small groups with student on specific needs.
- Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
- Assist teacher in modifying student assignments as needed.
- May assist and train student in activities of daily living as needed, including diapering/toileting, feeding, hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
- Be knowledgeable of the basic course content for student; and, the educational goals and objectives for each assigned student.
- May perform medical tasks as assigned under the direction or instruction of licensed medical providers (nurses) including, but not limited to catheterizations, care of trachea tubes, gastric tube feeding, etc.
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
