Plant Manager
Sierra Peaks Corporation is seeking an experienced and driven Plant Manager to lead business development and operations at our sheet metal fabrication facility serving the maritime industry. This position reports directly to the CEO and requires a unique blend of hands-on plant management and strategic sales acumen. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in fabrication, operational efficiency, team leadership, strategic planning, and a demonstrated ability to grow customer relationships and secure new business within the maritime and shipbuilding sectors. The Plant Manager will serve as the top leader on-site and a member of the strategic leadership team within the company.
Responsibilities:
- From a high-level, oversee all daily areas and operations of the plant including sales, production, efficiency, quality control, safety, administration, and maintenance.
- Lead business development efforts to identify and secure new opportunities in the maritime industry (shipbuilding, repair yards, marine infrastructure, etc.).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while expanding the company’s market presence and sales pipeline through networking, strategic partnerships, and other avenues.
- Manage, mentor, and support personnel to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Utilize a variety of tools including lean, six sigma, and the Theory of Constraints to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Have a strong knowledge of sales lead generation techniques, specifically for the maritime and fabrication industries.
- Support the Quality Management System (QMS) and be an advocate for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with production and estimating teams to develop competitive quotes and bids.
- Understand client needs, project scopes, and production timelines to align company capabilities with client support.
- Set and achieve financial goals, including revenue targets, cost controls, and margin improvement.
- Monitor budgets, analyze performance metrics, and report regularly on operational KPIs.
- Assist in capital planning for facility improvements, equipment upgrades, and technology investments.
- Serve on the leadership team on overall strategic vision and projects for Sierra Peaks as a whole.
Required:
Proven track record in business development or sales, ideally with maritime, government, and shipyard customers.
5 years of experience in plant or operations management within metal fabrication, preferably in a maritime setting.
Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, including machinery and welding processes, and quality assurance protocols.
Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
Proficient in ERP and CRM systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business, or a related field.
