Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party executive search firm recruiting for a non-profit education industry client's Human Resources Manager career opportunity. This is a Reno, Nevada opportunity and local No. NV candidates will be given preference for interview. An on-site (not hybrid nor remote) requirement with office building/work location in close proximity to downtown Reno. Flexible work daytime hours/schedule is offered (some employees work 7-4, others 11-7, for example), 40 hour week anticipated.
Summary
The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. The organization has under 50 full-time employees and over 350 volunteers that are unpaid but the HR department still services as a resource for all employees and volunteers of the organization.
Role and Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the President, the HR Manager collaborates with all of senior leadership to understand the organization’s mission and strategy:
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Assists in the development and implementation departmental budget.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field
- Professional Human Resources certification is preferred
- 5 years of HR management experience is required
- Local No. NV residents will be given preference for interview as no relocation benefits are offered, and this hiring organization is looking for someone to start in this role as soon as possible, making relocation transition timeframes unfavorable
- Strong skills and experience in recruitment, employee relations, legal compliance and performance management expertise
- Training and Development knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Demonstrated advanced written skills is critical for success in this role.
- Good working knowledge and the ability to apply the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs in the execution of registrar duties.
- Excellent diplomacy with all types of individuals, personnel levels, and personalities.
- Positive attitude with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility in handling multiple priorities and ability to adjust to high stress levels in rapidly changing business conditions needed.
