Under direction of and in conjunction with the General Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities and proper function of the field operations of Sierra Ambulance Service. The Operations Supervisor functions as a Paramedic in times of need as well as a leader of the management team. The Operations Supervisor job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure continuous quality improvement through clinical and protocol compliance
  • Assist in Investigating accidents and incidents to gather information, resolve issues, and communicate findings to the General Manager
  • Assist in coordinating operations during times of disaster
  • Gather information from customers regarding issues and problems, document complaints, and work with others for resolution to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Provide appropriate resources to debrief care-giving personnel (Paramedics and EMTs) after particularly critical incidents (Critical Incident Stress Debriefing or Employee Assistance Program)
  • Schedule crews to staff units, including re-scheduling for employees on PTO, sick leave, or other scheduled and unscheduled leaves.
  • Function as a crew Paramedic as required
  • Provide support and assistance to the field personnel to help them achieve maximum performance
  • Provide daily direction and clarity of expectations to field personnel
  • Coach employees to perform at their highest levels and provide performance feedback
  • Provide support to crews by acquiring needed resources
  • Participate in the resolution of union or non-union grievances and administer the disciplinary process
  • Communicate information to field employees clearly, gather information from the field regarding company issues, and report and help resolve field-management issues
  • Identify needs and support continuous improvement in employee development through training.
  • Direct and Participate in orientation of new employees
  • Administer company policies and procedures, as well as employment law in a consistent manner
  • Participate in community service to enhance the image of the company
  • Identify customer processes that lead to enhancements of service
  • Supervise the daily operations of the field
  • Collect paperwork and generate reports for management
  • Perform and/or delegate CQI and act as the Paramedic Liaison Officer for the company
  • Assist in maintaining local personnel records and database.
  • Responsible for administration of the controlled substance program.
  • Prepare and compile various periodic reports and documents for review and analysis by Management. These may include weekly vehicle maintenance, dispatch discrepancies, county reports, employee statistics, call volume and other related reports.
  • Maintains/modifies Personnel Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintains Master schedule rosters.
  • Assists with public relations activities and marketing functions.
  • Receive incoming service issues calls and assist caller with information requests.
  • Conducts and coordinates employee recruitment and hiring.
  • Develop and produce employee information bulletins or operational updates.
  • Assist in completion of employee changes, leave of absences and termination forms.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with employee investigations and grievance hearings.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations if applicable, counsel and provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel with a goal of developing a team oriented approach with positive results.
  • Maintain and Assist in driving performance management programs.

Salary : $88,000 - $110,000
