What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electromechanical Equipment Reliability Technician position at Siemens SI - North America?
Picture this: it’s 2:00 pm in Buffalo Grove, IL. You’ve just taken the handoff from the day crew. A printer alarm flashes on one line while a tester on another cell throws an intermittent fault. You step in as the go-to troubleshooter and liaison between production, maintenance, and engineering—diagnosing issues, stabilizing equipment, and keeping our Smart Buildings products moving.
What you’ll do- Serve as the first responder for equipment concerns—execute initial diagnostics and communicate findings between manufacturing teams and maintenance/engineering.
- Resolve minor technical issues with testers, printers, and other production assets; perform basic preventive maintenance to maximize uptime.
- Complete simple-to-complex setups and fine adjustments; apply above-average care and precision to maintain equipment performance.
- Use hand, pneumatic, and power tools; operate small to large machinery, material handling equipment, and computer-controlled systems.
- Leverage support software and data tools such as MPulse CMMS, labor and data analysis utilities, cell status board (CSB), and graphing/reporting tools.
- Work with sustained focus to ensure accuracy and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift: 2nd shift, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Hourly Rate: $24.00
What you bring- Hands-on experience in both electrical and mechanical industrial maintenance, focused on equipment reliability and improvement.
- Training or certifications in advanced trades (e.g., welding, machining, industrial electrical circuit wiring, machine or process troubleshooting).
- Ability to use software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MPulse CMMS, and Dayforce for documentation, maintenance, and reporting.
- Skilled at precision adjustments and careful equipment upkeep.
- Sound judgment making assembly decisions based on prior process results.
- Advanced rework/repair capability, including fault isolation and complex recovery steps.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to follow training, direction, and technical documentation.
- Experience with visual aids, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, ISO work instructions, and test documentation.
- Physically able to sit, stand, bend, push, and pull; lift/transfer up to 25 lbs.
- Strong manual dexterity; comfortable with hand tools, electric/pneumatic tools, and specialized fixtures/tooling.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
- Technical school degree.
- Experience with PLCs.
