Your mission
Own the coating process from prep to topcoat so every vehicle meets exacting standards for appearance and durability.
How you’ll make an impact
- Prepare car shells: hand, block, and mechanical sanding to achieve paint-ready surfaces.
- Mask and clean thoroughly for strong adhesion and smooth finishes.
- Apply undercoats/primers and complete professional topcoats on light rail vehicles.
- Care for your tools—maintain spray and support equipment.
- Collaborate across the paint team; jump in where help is needed to keep production flowing.
Skills and experience
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent blend of education and relevant shop experience (industrial painting/coatings).
- At least 1 year of painting experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Basic English communication; able to work with customers, vendors, contracted services, and internal partners.
- Able to follow written instructions and technical documentation; comfortable with brief correspondence.
- Math capability including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; calculate rate/ratio/percent; read and create bar graphs.
Physical requirements
- Frequent walking; reaching; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Climb stairs, steps, and ladders regularly; work on elevated platforms.
- Perform overhead tasks as needed.
- Lift up to 40 pounds.

Compensation and more
Location: Lexington, NC
Base rate range: $16.00/hr - $19.68/hr. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
