How You’ll Make An Impact (responsibilities)
- Drive hands-on materials characterization and testing to support energy technology development.
- Evaluate material properties, microstructures, durability, using laboratory techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, material testing, and related analytical methods.
- Translate complex test results into clear engineering insights, recommendations, and technical reports that guide material selection, process improvements, and customer decisions.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, R&D, and service teams to solve materials-related challenges and accelerate robust, reliable solutions for energy applications.
- Advance lab capability, quality, and efficiency by improving test methods, maintaining strong documentation, and supporting safe, compliant laboratory operations.
- Stay connected to emerging materials, characterization methods, and industry trends to bring fresh ideas and innovation into current and future energy technology programs.
- Master’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory, test, or research environments supporting materials characterization, materials testing, R&D, product development, or failure analysis.
- Strong technical foundation in microstructural characterization and materials analysis
- Ability to connect material behavior, test data, and real-world operating conditions to develop practical insights for energy-related components, systems, and customer applications.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills with the discipline to document results clearly and uphold safe, high-quality laboratory practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to engineering teams, project stakeholders, and internal customers.
- Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and applying materials science to support reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy technologies.
