Job Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of high reliability hardware and electrical systems for space flight and similar missions.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead subsystem architecture and interface development for new and existing satellite systems.
- Lead IRAD/CRAD project design, development, testing, and transition to manufacturing.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continual process improvement.
- Generate requirements, specifications, ICDs, analyses, and test plans. Review documentation, attend reviews, resolve issues, and report results to the customer.
- Document design, analysis, and test results in technical reports and presentations.
- Generate and maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation such as drawings, bills of materials, etc.
- Contribute to specific mission, ground, or space vehicle systems engineering activities. This may include requirements flow down, tracking, verification, and the writing of complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities.
- Support integration, testing, and operational readiness of spacecraft and payloads.
- Coordinate engineering design packages with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing, quality, and program management.
- Develop and maintain system power budget.
- Develop electrical system validation and verification plan.
- Develop test plans for electrical components and assemblies.
- Generate verification and validation plans, and work with Integration and Test team to ensure the subsystem meets requirements.
- Oversee spacecraft testing and review test results.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management and customers.
- Adhere to all Quality Management Systems standards and procedures.
- Treat all team members with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or another relevant field) with twelve (12 ) years of experience. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring within engineering teams.
- High level of proficiency with Printed Circuit Board design including schematic capture, layout, test, and manufacturing.
- High level of proficiency with Altium (or similar) for schematic and PCB design.
- High level of proficiency with power electronics design, high speed digital electronics design, and a basic level of proficiency with RF circuit design.
- High level of proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (or similar) for schematic and layout design.
- A solid understanding of requirements definition, decomposition, and flow-down, architectural trade studies, architectural and interface definition, hardware specifications, interface control, analyses, and verification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or another relevant field).
- Six (6) years experience in satellite or spacecraft systems design including electrical power system (EPS).
- Experience with integration of common spacecraft subsystems: power systems (Solar Arrays, Batteries), avionics assemblies, harnessing, ADCS elements, and electro-mechanical subsystems.
- Knowledge of satellite/spacecraft system reliability, contamination control, EMI, space environments (radiation, surface charging, corrosion, etc.), and human factors.
- Experience developing system and subsystem level acceptance plans and qualification testing of space flight hardware.
- High quality written and oral presentation skills
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary Work – occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force to carry, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves being stationary most of the time, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces.
- Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers.
Travel Requirement
Ability to travel < 10%
Shift/Schedule
This position is for the day shift generally working 7:00am – 4:00pm or 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some overtime may be expected.
