Job Title: Lead ServiceNow Developer Backend

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Experience: 5–10 years overall experience, with strong hands-on ServiceNow UI development

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Developer with strong expertise in modern UI development using Lit.js and the ServiceNow Next Experience UI Framework. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance user interfaces and custom applications on the ServiceNow platform. This role requires deep understanding of ServiceNow UI architecture, component-based development, and seamless integration with backend ServiceNow services.

Key Responsibilities

ServiceNow UI Development

• Design and develop modern, reusable UI components using Lit.js within the ServiceNow UI Framework
• Build responsive and accessible user interfaces aligned with ServiceNow Next Experience standards
• Customize and extend ServiceNow Workspaces and Portal experiences
• Develop UI components for custom ServiceNow applications and scoped apps
  
  

Platform Customization & Scripting

• Develop and maintain Client Scripts, UI Policies, Business Rules, Script Includes, and UI Actions
• Implement server-side logic using JavaScript and Glide APIs
• Optimize UI and script performance following ServiceNow best practices
  
  

Integration & APIs

• Consume REST APIs and ServiceNow Table APIs from UI components
• Work with IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP integrations, and external systems as needed
• Ensure secure data handling and role-based access controls
  
  

UX, Performance & Quality

• Ensure UI components meet accessibility (WCAG) and usability standards
• Collaborate with UX designers to translate wireframes into functional UI components
• Debug, test, and optimize UI components for performance and scalability
  
  

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with platform architects, backend developers, and business analysts
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Provide technical guidance and code reviews for junior developers
  
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

ServiceNow Core Skills

• Strong experience with ServiceNow platform development
• Solid understanding of Next Experience UI Framework
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow UI Builder and Workspaces
  
  

Frontend & Lit.js

• Proven experience developing UI components using Lit.js
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6 ), HTML5, CSS3
• Experience with component-based architecture and web standards
  
  

Scripting & APIs

• Expertise in Glide APIs and ServiceNow scripting
• Experience consuming and building REST APIs
• Knowledge of ServiceNow data model and CMDB concepts
  
  

Tools & Practices

• Experience with source control systems (Git)
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  
  

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, or Custom Apps
• Knowledge of UI performance optimization and accessibility standards
• Exposure to AngularJS (legacy ServiceNow UI) for migration projects
• ServiceNow CSA or CAD certification
  
  

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
