We are an established martial arts academy located in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, offering mixed youth and adult programming across Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai, and Kickboxing.
We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and passionate Part-Time Martial Arts Instructor to join our coaching team immediately. Whether your expertise lies in traditional forms, heavy striking, or ground grappling, we have classes ready for strong leaders who excel at mentoring students of all fitness levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Class Instruction: Lead safe, high-energy, and structured group classes for children, teens, or adults in one or more core disciplines (TKD, BJJ, Muay Thai, or Kickboxing).
- Technique & Safety: Demonstrate proper safety protocols, sparring/drilling mechanics, and physical technique while maintaining an immaculate mat training environment.
- Student Mentorship: Reinforce discipline, confidence, and mutual respect on the mats, encouraging consistent student progression and gym retention.
- Curriculum Delivery: Successfully execute our school’s established curriculum and testing standards.
- Operations Support: Assist with student check-ins, floor management during class transitions, and brief parent updates post-training.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience & Rank:
- Taekwondo / Traditional: 1st Dan / Black Belt preferred (or equivalent verifiable coaching experience).
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Blue Belt or higher with active coaching or tournament experience.
- Muay Thai / Kickboxing: Documented coaching or competitive fight experience.
- Teaching Background: Minimum 1 years of group instruction or assistant coaching experience (prior success leading youth classes is a significant plus).
- Communication Skills: High-energy motivator with exceptional verbal communication and command of the training floor.
- Reliability: Punctual and fully committed to regular, assigned weekly class blocks.
- Compliance: Willingness to pass a background check and help manage standard employment compliance paperwork (I-9, regulatory filings, etc.).
Schedule & Hours
- Class Times: Weekday afternoons/evenings (approx. 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM) and/or Saturday mornings.
- Hours: Approximately 5 to 15 hours per week, with opportunities for additional private training sessions.
