Responsibilities
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems efficiently to process transactions accurately and quickly
- Greet customers warmly, assist with product inquiries, and provide product demos when appropriate
- Handle cash, credit card, and mobile payments with precision and confidence
- Maintain clean and organized checkout areas, ensuring merchandise is well-stocked and properly merchandised
- Upsell relevant products to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities
- Assist with stocking shelves, inventory management, and merchandising efforts to keep the store inviting
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting remote customers
- Support the team by supervising new or less experienced staff during busy periods when needed
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures in a retail or grocery store environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in both bilingual settings (if applicable)
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions, discounts, and inventory counts
