Position Summary
The Universal Banker serves as a versatile member of our banking team by assisting customers with their day-to-day banking needs while supporting multiple operational functions within the bank. This role combines teller responsibilities with new account services and deposit product support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys learning, building relationships, and providing outstanding customer service. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus but not required.
Requirements:Primary Responsibilities
Customer Service & Teller Operations
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently through both the lobby and drive-up.
- Cash checks, accept deposits, process withdrawals, and other teller transactions.
- Balance cash drawer and maintain accurate records.
- Identify opportunities to assist customers with additional banking products and services.
- Deliver friendly, professional service that reflects our community banking values.
New Accounts & Deposit Services
- Open and maintain checking, savings, and other deposit accounts.
- Assist customers with Certificates of Deposit (CDs), including account setup and renewals.
- Educate customers on available banking products and services to help meet their financial goals.
- Ensure all account documentation complies with regulatory requirements and bank policies.
Specialized Account Services
- Assist customers with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), including account setup, maintenance, and basic education regarding available options.
- Maintain confidentiality and regulatory compliance while processing specialized accounts.
Operations Support
- Provide backup support for bookkeeping and other operational functions as needed.
- Assist with balancing, recordkeeping, and daily operational processes.
- Cross-train in various banking functions to provide support throughout the organization.
Community Engagement
- Represent the bank in a positive and professional manner.
- Participate in community events and activities when appropriate
- Build lasting relationships with customers and community members.
Minimum Requirements
- High school education or GED
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated aptitude and desire for achievement
- Passion for customer service and helping people
- Ability, motivation and preference to succeed in a goal-driven environment
- Superior customer relationship building skills
- Comfortable making outreach calls to consumer or business customers
- Proficient working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable with technology i.e., smartphones, online banking, remote deposit capture, ATM deposits, etc
- Basic understanding of personal finances and concept of budgeting
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to function in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong commitment to personal growth, learning and success
- Ability to interact with customers and team members in a professional and personable manner
- Detailed oriented and ability to follow established policies and procedures
Desirable Requirements
- Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related area would be a plus, but not required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) would be considered a plus, but not required
