Role Description The GSE Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, responsible for maintaining and repairing ground support equipment used in aircraft operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing inspections, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, conducting routine and preventive maintenance, and completing repairs on heavy equipment such as maintenance Trucks, lift truck, nitrogen carts, utility cart etc. The role involves following established safety procedures, aviation maintenance standards, and company guidelines while documenting all work performed in maintenance records and systems. The GSE Mechanic collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime, supports troubleshooting during critical operations, and ensures that all ground support equipment remains reliable, safe, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair, with experience working on industrial or aviation support equipment.
- Candidates should possess solid Preventive Maintenance skills, including conducting scheduled inspections and servicing to reduce equipment failures.
- Candidates should possess experience with Heavy Equipment, including diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and safe operation practices.
- Candidates should possess effective Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on ground support equipment.
- Relevant technical certification or vocational training in mechanics, automotive, diesel, or related field is preferred.
- Prior experience as a GSE mechanic or in aviation, fleet, or industrial equipment maintenance is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Commitment to workplace safety, adherence to regulatory standards, and ability to work in outdoor, fast-paced ramp environments.
