The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Systems Lead assists FSQ Management in the maintenance and improvement of overall product quality and safety programs, procedures, and policies. This position will be involved in program management assistance related to the SQF system and its integration with overall Quality Management System. A key requirement of this position is to lead/assist the verification and validation program development/expansion for the Food Safety and SQF system.
The facility produces USDA and FDA products which include RTE hot-filled soups, sauces and sides. Facility maintains several product lines with identity preserved status such as organic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assists Quality Management with verification and validation by designing studies, interpreting data and finalizing reports
- Reports to the SQF practitioner for the facility; responsible for day-to-day verification to maintain SQF systems
- Manages system for ongoing review and assessment of food safety program; reports areas that require cross-functional evaluation
- Ensures execution of facility internal audit programs based on established frequency; manages corrective and preventive actions and reporting; assesses trends
- Assists with managing changes to food safety programs prior to implementation based on direction from direct manager
- Conducts periodic audits of facilities to assure compliance with applicable procedures
- Administers and/or attends meetings with plant management related to food safety and product quality
- Aids in development of training materials to build food safety culture and implement program changes
- Assists in identifying regulatory and compliance concerns and escalating issues as needed
- Ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, and Food Safety standards
- Generates and maintains reports related to Food Safety and Quality
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements

- May conduct or assist with special projects requiring department representation
- Performs data analysis to identify problems, opportunities, and constraints
- SQF Practitioner Certification
- HACCP Certification
- PCQI (Preventative Controls Qualified Individual)
