What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Technician II position at Shyft6?
We’re seeking a reliable, hands-on Packaging Technician II to join our team and help keep our facility, production equipment, and building systems running safely and efficiently. This is an important role in supporting day-to-day production by maintaining equipment, responding to issues, and helping prevent costly downtime.
The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, enjoys troubleshooting and problem-solving, and takes pride in keeping equipment operating at its best.
What You’ll Do
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) and routine inspections on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and complete repairs to keep production running smoothly.
- Respond to equipment issues and make adjustments or emergency repairs while production lines are operating.
- Modify, fabricate, or improve equipment and parts to support production needs and increase efficiency.
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and contribute to process and equipment improvements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot key building and facility systems, including:
- Refrigeration systems
- Steam systems
- Wastewater treatment equipment
- Building environmental systems
- Monitor equipment and facility systems to help ensure they remain safe, dependable, and in proper working condition.
- Support seasonal facility needs, including clearing snow and ice from outdoor walkways and entrances during the winter months.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable diagnosing problems and finding practical solutions. A strong candidate will take ownership of their work and understand the importance of keeping equipment and production operating safely and reliably.
The following certifications are a plus and may not be required depending on experience:
- Electrical License
- Wastewater Treatment License
- Boiler Certification
- Mechanical Certification
