We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Spanish - English Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication across diverse settings. Duties

• Provide real-time interpretation between Spanish and English across various platforms including in-person, over-the-phone, and video remote interpretation (VRI).
• Translate medical terminology accurately for medical interpretation and medical translation services, ensuring clarity and precision.
• Adhere to professional ethics, clinical ethical guidelines, and confidentiality policies such as HIPAA compliance when handling sensitive medical records and documentation review.
• Support hospital staff, social workers, child protective services, and healthcare professionals by interpreting during clinical encounters, patient interviews, and social work assessments.
• Facilitate cross-cultural communication by applying clinical cultural competency standards and ensuring cultural sensitivity during interactions.
• Maintain detailed documentation of interpreted sessions while respecting clinical confidentiality policies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in translating complex medical terminology accurately within the context of medical records and healthcare documentation.
• Deliver over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) services efficiently while achieving HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy.
• Support multilingual communication needs by incorporating American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation when required for inclusive service delivery.

Experience

• Proven experience as a professional interpreter with a focus on medical or clinical settings.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and experience translating medical documents or providing medical interpretation services.
• Familiarity with video remote interpretation (VRI) technology and over-the-phone interpretation platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to HIPAA regulations, clinical ethical guidelines, and confidentiality policies in healthcare environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly across cultural boundaries.
• Experience working within hospital settings or social service agencies such as child protective services or mental health organizations is highly desirable.
• Multilingual proficiency in Spanish and English; additional language skills including American Sign Language are a plus.
• Knowledge of cross-cultural communication principles and clinical cultural competency standards to enhance service quality.
