Advertising Policy Senior Manager

The Opportunity

Advertising is a crucial part of GIPHY’s business, presenting new opportunities emerging every day. The Trust and Safety team is looking for a policy professional who specializes in advertising and compliance. This individual will help build up the advertising policy library and processes for implementing those policies. This role requires collaboration between multiple teams, including Ads, Moderation, Legal, Engineering, and Product. The ideal candidate has plenty of advertising experience, enjoys research and analysis, and is comfortable with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Stay up to date on global advertising trends and the most impactful mitigation actions required of tech organizations
• Determine compliance requirements for individual advertisements, including for products and services within highly regulated industries and best practices for targeted advertising campaigns
• Develop general advertising policy and enforcement plans across multiple functional areas, utilizing research and strategic partnerships
• Review pitches from the Ads team, assess individual campaigns, and collaborate with the Legal team to make recommendations that balance scalability, risk, and benefits
• Collaborate with the Content Moderation team to ensure consistency and enforceability of policies
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to implement user facing tools to manage the advertising experience and features to comply with relevant legislation
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

• 5 years experience in advertising policy or advertising law
• Foundational understanding of advertising policy with proven record of expertise in the field
• Experience working with Public Relations, Legal or Public Policy teams
• Knowledge and experience within the tech industry with focus on brand safety
• Data-driven decision-making and the ability to leverage analytics for improvement
• Experience collaborating across multiple teams in a fast paced environment with comfort around upper management
• Ability to stay ahead of international legal developments and evolving platform expectations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to run a persuasive meeting backed with compelling information
• In-depth ability to identify and solve ambiguous and complex problems that require strong cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to independently propose and justify goals to department leader and scope out deliverables
• Demonstrated accountability and ability to influence priorities within and across teams
• Experience managing relationships with vendors, government entities, and legal teams
• Skilled in building trust across diverse teams (Ads, Legal, Product, Moderation), especially when managing competing priorities

The Pay Range For This Position Is Below

• 150,000 - 170,000 per year in New York
  
  

Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
