Job Summary:
Load, unload, and moves material within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.
Material Handler I – Entry Level
Responsibilities:
- Read work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Open containers.
- Load and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Count, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- Load truck for Industrial Truck Operator.
- Stack or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
- Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
- Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Material Handler II – Skilled Level
Responsibilities:
- Must meet all level 1 requirements
- Operate a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hoists, with increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Accurately interpret and follow pick lists, job travelers, and inventory movement instructions with minimal supervision.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance checks on material handling equipment.
- Use RF scanners or inventory systems to track material movements and ensure real-time inventory accuracy.
- Organize and stage materials for production in accordance with scheduling priorities.
- Ensure all materials are properly labeled, stored, and rotated (FIFO) to minimize waste or damage.
- Assist in inventory cycle counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Provide guidance and informal training to Material Handler I team members.
- Recognize and report process inefficiencies or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Material Handler III – Advanced Level
Responsibilities:
- Must meet all level 1 requirements
- Must meet all level 2 requirements
- Lead and coordinate daily material handling activities to ensure timely support of production and shipping schedules.
- Provide direction and support to Material Handler I and II employees, including on-the-job training, task delegation, and workflow organization.
- Collaborate with supervisors and department leads to identify and resolve material flow issues.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and support root cause investigations for discrepancies.
- Utilize ERP or warehouse management systems for advanced inventory transactions and reporting.
- Assist in developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling processes.
- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, working independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintain high safety and housekeeping standards throughout material storage and staging areas.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills while working across departments.
- Comfortable giving direction and or leading Peers.
- Shows interest in learning additional skills.
- Shows good decision-making skills without supervision.

Material Handler – Lead Position
Responsibilities:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift.
