Shur-Co’s rapidly growing Private Equity-backed business has the need for an Accountant to support the company’s Accounting Department. This position will have a focus on Bank reconciliations, Month-End close processes and Special Projects Accounting in addition to general accounting duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Perform and support daily accounting operations including journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting activities
- Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are researched and resolved timely
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation of accruals, prepaid entries, and other closing journal entries
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting documentation for all reconciliations and adjustments
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure regulatory compliance and financial integrity
- Participate in special projects and initiatives including acquisitions, integrations, and process improvements
- Assist in payroll-related reconciliations including payroll clearing accounts, benefit deductions, tax filings, and payroll general ledger tie-outs
- Assist with audits by preparing requested schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for external auditors
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, reconciling items, and transactional issues in a timely manner
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned by the Controller

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA/CMA a plus
- 3-7 years of relevant Accounting experience, including 2 years of Payroll accounting experience
- Manufacturing company experience preferred
- Highly skilled with Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be detail orientated and ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
