Join Shumaker, where the excitement of legal excellence intersects with an enjoyable and vibrant workplace! As an attorney in our Labor & Employment Service Line, you will engage in sophisticated and challenging litigation and financial services work for clients in Florida and nationwide.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of labor & employment law experience, including an understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations, as well as exposure to employment litigation matters. The attorney will handle a broad range of employment disputes, including discrimination and retaliation actions and wage and hour litigation, drafting employee handbooks and employment agreements, counseling employers, and conducting workplace trainings and investigations for employers.

This position will work in-person at our Sarasota, Florida office.
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active Florida bar license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of employment law experience
- Strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals
- Superior research skills, including the use of online services and databases
- Project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to one hour per day
- Bending and stooping occasionally, up to one-half hour per day
