Summary:

The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist supports SHRM’s hiring success by managing full-cycle recruitment for a variety of roles, including hard-to-fill and leadership positions. This role partners closely with hiring managers to deliver an efficient, high-quality hiring process while ensuring an exceptional candidate experience. The Senior Specialist also contributes to talent acquisition process improvements and strengthens SHRM’s employer brand through professional representation and strong stakeholder partnership.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Recruitment & Delivery

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, including sourcing, screening, evaluating, and guiding candidates through the hiring process.
  • Support searches for more complex or higher-impact roles in partnership with Lead, Talent Acquisition or Director, Talent.
  • Execute effective sourcing strategies using available tools, networks, and creative outreach methods.
  • Advise hiring managers on role requirements, talent availability, and recruitment best practices.
  • Ensure a smooth, timely, and well-communicated hiring process from intake through offer.

Candidate & Hiring Manager Experience

  • Provide a consistently positive, high-touch candidate experience that reflects SHRM’s culture and values.
  • Guide hiring teams on interviewing techniques and evaluation practices to support fair, consistent decision-making.
  • Build strong working relationships with hiring managers, maintaining trust and alignment throughout each search.

Team Support & Collaboration

  • Serve as an escalation point for questions related to process, candidate management, or priority needs.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages shared learning and continuous improvement.

Process, Systems, & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance sourcing approaches, candidate engagement, and TA workflows.
  • Participate in post-hire reviews to assess what worked and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed on recruitment trends, labor market updates, and evolving best practices.

Talent Intelligence & Reporting

  • Track and maintain accurate recruitment data, including time-to-fill, pipeline status, and candidate demographics.
  • Share insights with hiring managers to support better planning and decision-making.
  • Contribute to team reporting on hiring progress, challenges, and market conditions.

SHRM Representation & Brand Ambassadorship

  • Represents SHRM’s culture, values, and mission in all internal and external interactions.
  • Models SHRM’s Guiding Principles to ensure consistent, values-aligned experience for candidates, hiring teams, and external partners.
  • Acts as an ambassador for SHRM’s employer brand, helping to promote our reputation as an employer of choice.
  • Engages in SHRM conferences and other industry events, networking forums, and professional gatherings to build brand awareness, credibility, and attract culturally aligned talent.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, I/O Psychology, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP required within one year of hire; recruiting certifications are a plus.

Experience

  • 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience
  • Experience supporting multiple business units and working with leaders across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success navigating confidential, high-impact searches with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proven ability to work both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Recruitment Expertise: Skilled in niche hiring, sourcing strategies, and talent advisory.
  • Consultative Communication: Ability to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels with credibility and empathy.
  • Data Fluency: Familiarity with talent metrics and the ability to use data to inform and adjust strategies.
  • Coaching & Support: Comfortable providing guidance and mentorship to more junior recruiting professionals.
  • Systems & Tools: Proficient with ATS, sourcing platforms, and recruitment analytics tools.
  • AI Adoption & Optimization: Ability to effectively leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and improve overall work quality.
  • Mindset & Attributes: Agile, curious, self-directed, and business-minded. Brings a continuous improvement lens and thrives in ambiguity.

Physical Requirements

  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk, lift, carry and move light to medium weight. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and learn technical information.
  • Moderate lifting is required. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.

Work Environment

Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In-Office / 2 Days Remote):

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00–9:00 a.m. and concluding between 5:00–6:00 p.m. local time.
