Job Description

Job Summary

The Performance Improvement Specialist at Shriners Hospitals for Children is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, patient safety, and quality of care across various hospital departments. This role involves data analysis, process mapping, and collaborative problem-solving to drive continuous improvement within a compassionate healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing workflows, systems, and processes to pinpoint areas for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
    Gather and analyze performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to quantify problems, track progress and update dashboards.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop practical solutions, which may include process redesign or the implementation of new technologies.

  • Lead or participate in projects using methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, or RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to achieve ongoing enhancements in patient safety.

  • Create and deliver training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other documentation to support successful adoption of optimized processes.

  • Prepare and assist in presenting reports on project performance, findings, and recommendations to leadership and other relevant committees.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Must possess strong grammar and verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, volunteers, patients, families and visitors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, business, or relate field.

  • Minimum three (3) years previous medical records experience.

  • Quality management data retrieval desirable. Minimum 45wpm typing.

  • Minute taking experience

The pay range for this position is $73,559.20 - $110,350.24. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
