ASSISTANT/JUNIOR PRINT DESIGNER (FREELANCE)
Show Me Your Mumu is looking for a temporary, part-time Junior Freelance Print Designer for the Textile Designer/Art Department.
Candidates must be within reasonable commuting distance of the Mumu HQ office in Los Angeles, CA.
CORE DUTIES:
- Assist with organizing print strike off binders and fabric boards
- Assist with simple re-colors in Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop
- Assist with putting prints in repeat, print cleaning, and color updates
- Assist with Setting up print pitch sheets and assigning pantones
- Assist in creating original art/graphics as needed
- Handle scanning fabric
- Assist with keeping the design team/area organized
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum internship to 1 year of work experience
- Passion for all things design
- Great eye for color
- Highly organized, resourceful, and dependable with excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, portfolio of design work is strongly recommended
- Experience and Knowledge in Textile Design, must be able to create Print Repeats in both Photoshop and Illustrator
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
- Ability to manage workflow and execute tasks from beginning to end
- Team player: this position will work with multiple members of the design Team
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or Textile Design
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
SKILLS
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite
- Hand painting/drawing skills as well as digital illustration skills are a plus
- Proficient organizational skills
- General understanding of design and development process related to a variety of materials and fabrications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask while paying close attention to detail
Responsibilities
- The Print Assistant will be responsible for ideation, creation, and development of Print/Pattern Designs
- This role will support the Senior Print Designers by creating repeats, recoloring artwork, and prepping files for overseas production
- Preparing artwork for send outs
- Organizing CAD print outs and send outs to mills
- Catalog seasonal organizational charts
- Helping to keep these charts up to date with calendar deadlines
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Los Angeles, CA 90021
